Infertility and Acupuncture

The treatment of infertility with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine has been used for thousands of years. A study published in the medical journal Fertility & Sterility, volume77, April 2002, 721-724, has announced that their success rate increased to nearly 43%. According the report, 160 women have been under going IVF (in vitro fertilization). Half the women had IVF transfers while the other half received acupuncture before and after the transfer. “Acupuncture seems to be a useful tool for improving pregnancy rate after assisted reproductive techniques,” they stated. “ The analysis shows that pregnancy rate for acupuncture group is considerably higher than for the control group (42.5% versus 26.3%).” they wrote.
